You can delete your account yourself, from inside the app, at any time. Open More and choose Delete my account. You do not need to ask us, and you do not need to give a reason.

If you cannot sign in, email privacy@amandashouse.com and we will do it for you once we have confirmed who you are.

Delete it yourself, in the app

This is the fastest way, and it works the same for clients and for care staff.

  1. Open the Amanda's House app and sign in.
  2. Tap More (the last tab along the bottom).
  3. Tap Delete my account.
  4. Read the screen. It tells you what will be removed and what has to be kept, the same things this page explains.
  5. Confirm. That is it.

This cannot be undone. Once your account is deleted we cannot bring it back, and signing up again later starts a new, empty account. If you only want a break, you can turn off notifications instead, or simply stop using the app. Nobody will chase you.

Do not uninstall the app instead. Removing the app from your phone does not delete your account or your information. You have to use the step above, or email us.

If you cannot sign in

Lost your password, lost your phone, or changed your number? You can still have your account deleted. Email privacy@amandashouse.com and tell us:

  • that you want your Amanda's House account deleted (those words are enough, and you do not have to explain why);
  • the name you used on the account; and
  • the email address or phone number the account was set up with.

We will confirm who you are before we act. We will usually contact you at the email address or phone number already on the account, or ask you a question only the account holder would be able to answer. That is there to protect you: it stops someone else deleting your records.

You can also ask your care team to help you start this, or write to us at 8033 W Sunset Blvd, Ste 353, Los Angeles, CA 90046.

We do not use a web form for this. There is no form on this page on purpose: a form would collect personal details from anyone who typed them in, including people who are not you.

What is deleted

These are removed from the platform:

  • Your sign-in. Your account, your email address and password, and any Face ID or fingerprint setting. You will not be able to sign in again.
  • Your contact details. Your name, email address, phone number and language preference.
  • Documents you uploaded. Your ID, Medi-Cal card, proof of income, proof of address and any other file you put in, deleted from storage.
  • Your phone's notification token, so no notification can be sent to your phone again.
  • Your profile and app settings.

What is kept, and why

Some records cannot simply disappear. When an organization runs a funded program (housing, benefits, job support), it has to be able to show what it did, for whom, and when. Those rules come from the program's funders and from California law, and they apply to the organization even after you leave.

So these are kept:

  • the services you received, and when;
  • case notes written by staff;
  • referrals between organizations, and the consents you gave or declined;
  • your appointment history;
  • the points ledger (what was awarded and what was redeemed); and
  • anything needed for a legal claim or investigation already under way.

These records are separated from your login. Once your account is deleted, they are no longer connected to a person who can sign in, and your contact details are gone from them.

They are kept for as long as the organization's program rules and California law require, and then disposed of. If you want to know the exact period that applies to your case, ask the organization you worked with. Different programs have different rules, and the organization, not Amanda's House, sets them.

We also keep, for a short period, the ordinary security records every system keeps, such as a log that an account was deleted, so we can prove the deletion happened.

What happens to your points

Any points you have not redeemed are forfeited when your account is deleted. Points have no cash value and cannot be paid out, so nothing is owed to you for them. See the Terms of Use. If you have points you want to use, redeem them before you delete your account.

How long it takes

  • Deleting in the app: your account stops working immediately.
  • Deleting by email: we act as soon as we have confirmed who you are, normally within a few days and in any case within 30 days of confirming your identity.
  • Backups: our backup copies are rewritten on a rolling schedule, so a copy of deleted information can survive in a backup for up to 90 days. Backups are not used to bring anyone's account back.

If you are a member of care staff

The steps are the same (More, then Delete my account), and deleting removes your sign-in and your personal details in the same way. Two things are different:

  • Your work stays with your organization. Case notes you wrote, services you logged and referrals you made are the organization's records, not yours, and they remain. Your name may remain on them where a program requires the record to show who did the work.
  • Tell your organization first. Deleting your account removes your access immediately, and clients on your caseload will need to be handed over to someone else.

After your account is gone

  • We stop sending you notifications and emails.
  • You can still get help from the organization you were working with, off the platform. Deleting the app account never means losing services.
  • You can sign up again later with a new invitation. It will be a fresh account, with nothing in it.
