Legal
Terms of Use
Effective date: September 2026
These are the rules for using the app. Use it for what it is for, treat other people decently, keep your account to yourself, and tell us if something goes wrong.
The app is not a medical, legal or emergency service. In an emergency call 911. If you are in crisis, call or text 988.
The short version
- The app is free to you, and using it is always your choice.
- You must be 18 or older.
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and do not use someone else's account.
- Points are a thank-you for taking part. They are not money, they cannot be cashed out, and they never change what services you get.
- Care staff carry extra responsibilities, because they can see other people's information. Section 7 sets them out.
- You can close your account at any time. See Delete your account.
Who this agreement is between
These terms are an agreement between you and Autonomous User Rehabilitation Agent LLC(“AURA”, for Autonomous User Rehabilitation Agent), a company in Los Angeles County, California, which makes and runs the platform Amanda's House powered by AURA: the phone app for clients, the phone app for care staff, this website, and the web tool used by Amanda's House headquarters. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “Amanda's House” mean AURA, and “the platform” means all of that.
Using the platform means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use it, and tell your care team, so they can help you another way.
Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with information about you. It is part of this agreement.
Who can use the platform
- You must be 18 or older. The platform is not for children.
- Clients use the app through an organization that works with them. You normally get in with an invitation from that organization.
- Care staff use the app through their employer, which is a partner organization in the network. Your organization decides what you can see and do.
- Amanda's House headquarters staff use the web tool, under the organization's own internal rules as well as these terms.
What the platform is, and what it is not
The platform is a way to organize the work you and your care team do together: intake, appointments, reminders, documents, messages, referrals between organizations, and a record of what has happened.
It is not an emergency service. Nobody is watching the app around the clock. If someone's life or safety is at risk, call 911. If you are in crisis, call or text 988, and the app's Crisis help button is always there, whether or not you are signed in.
The platform also is not:
- medical care or medical advice. Information in the app is not a diagnosis or a treatment plan.
- legal advice. Help with clearing a record comes from the people qualified to give it, not from the app.
- a guarantee of any benefit, housing, job or service. Those decisions are made by the organizations and agencies that run those programs, under their own rules.
- a replacement for your own records. Keep your own copies of important documents.
Your account
- Give true information when you sign up, and keep it up to date.
- Keep your password to yourself. Do not let anyone else use your account, and do not use anyone else's.
- Turning on Face ID, Touch ID or your fingerprint is a good idea, especially if other people use your phone.
- Tell us at support@amandashouse.com, or tell your care team, as soon as you think someone has got into your account.
- You are responsible for what happens on your account, unless someone got in through no fault of yours.
Rules for everyone
Use the platform for what it is for. Do not:
- pretend to be someone else, or use a name, document or information that is not yours;
- harass, threaten, bully or abuse anyone in a message, a note or anywhere else in the platform;
- upload anything unlawful, or anything you do not have the right to share;
- try to get into parts of the platform, or other people's information, that are not yours to see;
- break, overload, probe or work around the security of the platform, or use automated tools against it;
- copy the platform, take it apart, or try to build a competing service from it;
- use the platform to advertise, to sell things, or to send anyone unwanted messages;
- submit false information to get points or rewards, or to get a benefit you are not entitled to;
- record a video visit without everyone's knowledge and agreement; or
- use the platform to break the law, or to help someone else break it.
Extra rules for care staff
If you use the staff side of the app, you can see information about people who trusted your organization with it. That trust comes with rules. These are in addition to your organization's own policies, your professional obligations, and any confidentiality agreement you have signed.
- Look only at what your work requires. Do not open a client's record out of curiosity, or because you know them personally. Access is recorded.
- Share only what is needed, with only the people who need it, and only for a reason tied to that person's care.
- Get consent before a referral. Use the app's consent step. Never record a consent the person did not actually give.
- Write case notes that are accurate, factual and respectful. Assume the person may one day read them, because they may. Do not record anything you could not defend.
- Do not take information out of the platform: no screenshots, exports, photographs of the screen, copies into personal email, personal cloud storage or messaging apps, except where your organization has authorized it in writing.
- Your account is yours alone. Do not share your sign-in with a colleague, a volunteer or a supervisor. If someone else needs access, they get their own account.
- Lock your phone, and turn on Face ID, Touch ID or your fingerprint for the app.
- Do not award points or rewards to influence anyone: not for taking part in a particular program, for a review, for a referral, or as an inducement of any kind. Points follow the platform's rules, not a staff member's judgment of who deserves them.
- Never make services depend on the app. Someone who will not or cannot use the app is entitled to exactly the same help.
- Report a problem immediately: a lost phone, a message sent to the wrong person, information seen by someone who should not have seen it. Tell your organization and email support@amandashouse.com. Reporting quickly is never held against you; hiding it is a serious matter.
- When you leave your organization or change roles, your access ends or changes. Do not try to keep it, and do not keep copies of anything.
Breaking these rules can mean losing access immediately, and we will tell your organization. Some of them are also legal obligations, and we will report where the law requires it.
The points and rewards program
Amanda's House runs a points program as a thank-you for taking part: keeping an appointment, finishing a step, staying in touch. Points can be redeemed for gift cards and goods.
Points are not money. They have no cash value, they cannot be exchanged for cash, and they are not a debt we owe you.
Points never change the help you get. Your services, your care team and how you are treated do not depend on the program in any way, and taking part is entirely optional.
How the program works
- Amanda's House runs the program and decides what earns points, how many, and what they can be redeemed for.
- Points belong to your account and are not transferable. You cannot give, sell or trade them, and they cannot be combined with another person's.
- Points may expire, and are forfeited if your account is closed or deleted, by you or by us. There is no payment for unused points.
- We may change the program (what earns points, what they are worth, what is available) or end it altogether. If we do, we will give notice in the app beforehand and give you a reasonable chance to use points you have already earned.
- Points awarded by mistake, or earned by false information, can be removed. Redeeming through fraud can cost you the program and your account.
- Rewards depend on what is in stock. We cannot always substitute, and we are not responsible for a gift card issuer's own terms, expiry dates or service.
Taxes
A gift card or item you receive may count as taxable income to you. You are responsible for any tax you owe. If the total value you receive in a year reaches the federal reporting threshold ($2,000 for 2026), the organization issuing the reward may have to collect a tax form from you (such as a Form W-9) and report the payment before it can be given to you. We do not give tax advice; if this matters to you, ask a tax professional.
If you have Medi-Cal or Medicaid
Federal rules limit the value of rewards that can be given to people enrolled in Medicaid programs. Where those rules apply, rewards are kept within the nominal-value limits set out in the platform's compliance rules, which may mean a lower limit than for other participants. This protects your coverage as well as the program.
Documents, messages and what you write
- What you upload stays yours. We do not claim ownership of your documents, your messages, or anything else you put in.
- You give us permission to store it and show it to the people who need to see it (your care team, and any organization you consent to a referral to) so the platform can do its job. Nothing more.
- Only upload documents that are yours, or that you have permission to upload.
- Case notes are written by staff, and the organization that wrote them keeps them as part of its own records. If you think a note is wrong, ask your care team to correct it, or email us.
- We may remove content that breaks these terms or the law. Where we can, we will tell you why.
Referrals and consent
Organizations in the network refer people to each other. Your information goes to a receiving organization only after you agree, and the app records your agreement and the date. You can decline, and declining does not affect the help you get where you are. The Privacy Policy explains this in full.
Notifications and messages
With your permission, the app sends push notifications: appointment reminders, a new message from your care team, and similar. We keep the words in a notification short and general, because a notification can appear on a locked screen where someone else might see it. You can turn notifications off in the app or in your phone's settings at any time; you will still see everything inside the app.
We will not send you marketing or promotional messages through the app, and we will not let anyone else do so.
What we cannot promise
We work hard to keep the platform correct and available, but we have to be honest about the limits.
- The platform is provided as it is. We do not promise it will always be available, never lose anything, or be free of errors.
- We are not responsible for what an organization, an agency or a third party does with information, or for a decision they make about your case.
- We are not responsible for your phone, your internet connection, or a video provider's service.
- To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties, including that the platform is fit for a particular purpose. Some of these protections cannot be disclaimed under California law, and where that is so, they still apply to you.
Limits on our responsibility
To the fullest extent the law allows, Amanda's House is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the platform, for example lost income or lost opportunities. Nothing in these terms limits responsibility for fraud, for intentional wrongdoing, for gross negligence, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else the law does not permit us to limit. Because the platform is provided to you free of charge, any liability we do have is limited to what the law requires.
Ending your account, and suspension
You can leave whenever you want
Delete your account from inside the app: open More and choose Delete my account. Our Delete your account page explains what happens to your information, and what to do if you cannot sign in.
When we might suspend or end an account
- Breaking these terms, especially the rules in sections 6 and 7.
- Using the platform in a way that puts someone at risk, or breaks the law.
- Fraud in the rewards program.
- For staff: leaving the organization, or losing the access their role required.
Where we can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right. In a serious case we may act immediately. Losing your account does not take away any service your organization provides to you off the platform.
Changes to these terms
We will update these terms as the platform changes. The effective date at the top tells you which version you are reading. For an important change, we will tell you in the app, and by email where we have your address, before it takes effect. Carrying on using the platform after that means you accept the new terms; if you do not, you can delete your account.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute belongs in the state or federal courts serving Los Angeles County, California. Nothing here takes away a right you have under California consumer law.
If a court decides part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still stands. If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
